Moving home, it can be an extremely stressful for even the most hardened of individual, however, it doesn’t have to be this way – there are ways that you can make your move relatively straight-forward.

Have a look at our quick moving tips that can help you make your move more efficient, painless and much faster.

Pack Yourself A Day One Box

What is a day one box I hear you ask – well, it’s exactly as it sounds. It’s a box filled with things that you’ll need as soon as you get to your new home, the essentials, the things that you’re inevitably going to fret about and rifle through boxes to find.

These include toothbrush and bathroom necessities, phone charger, tools, eating utensils, cookware, some food etc and label this box clearly as ‘day one’. This will save you having to go through your boxes to find these items after a long days move.

Use Your Socks!

Yep, you heard me, use your socks. When I say use your socks (clean ones, hopefully) you can use these to pack your favourite glasses. The socks will provide a much needed cushion and most glasses fit nicely into socks (don’t believe me? Try it!)

Go To Your New House Beforehand and Clean It

There is nothing worse than moving into a dusty house, especially if its been on a market a while before you move in. Make sure you give yourself a day or so before moving to go in a give it a good deep clean – you’ll feel much better putting your things into a nice clean home.

Get A Removals Company That Screams Quality

Finding a good removal company should be extremely high on your list if you’re going to hire one. I recommend doing a good scour of the internet to find the best ones in your area.

After doing a little research and based on customer feedback I have found one name that keeps cropping up and that’s the Moving Corp – reviews say they’re friendly, cost efficient and get the job done properly.

Keep Sandwich bags handy

Sandwich bags are fantastic to keep your smaller items all together, so invest in a good few sandwich bags to keep them safe.

Take Pictures Of Your Electric Setup

If you’re like me, I repel technology. When it comes to wiring things into TV’s and things like that I am fundamentally useless. I have always found that when moving home taking pictures of wiring for all my electricals can come in very handy when trying to get up and running.

Get Your Friends To Help

Whether it’s with a lure of alcohol, free food or old items that you do not want, tempt your friends and family in to help. Moving can take a lot of time and planning and having some people around you to help and support you can be invaluable – so call in those friends and get them in on the action.

Happy moving!
